API 5L X42 / L290 Line Pipe Specification :-
API 5L X42 Pipe also called L290 pipe (by ISO 3183), named by minimum yield strength 42100 Psi or 290 Mpa. It’s a higher grade than Grade B where API 5L has various grades up to X100, so x42 pipe is an low-medium level, and it requires large quantities in most of pipelines for oil and gas transmissions. API 5L X42 Pipes are produced into seamless pipe and welded steel pipe with Spiral Submerged Arc Welding Pipe (SSAW), Longitudinal Seam Submerged Arc Welding Pipe (LSAW), Electric Resistance Welding (ERW).
- API 5L X42 / L290 Line Pipes ranges in PSL1, PSL2, onshore/offshore, and sour service.
- API 5L X42 PSL1 is for common use material delivery conditions R as Rolled.
- API 5L X42 PSL2 is strict and higher than PSL1 on chemicals, mechanical properties and test requirements.
- PSL2 specified with suffix letter N, Q, M, eg API 5L X42Q/M/N (Where sour services is described as API 5L X42QS/MS).
